Goodyear welted shoes are made using an elaborate shoemaking technique steeped in tradition. NAVYBOOT is one of just a few brands that offers welt-sewn shoes for men, as well as models for women. The women’s shoes are produced in a facility near Porto in Portugal. It takes 250 steps to produce the finished boot: to create a Goodyear welted model, the welt is first sewn to the upper shoe. Then a cork mixture is spread onto the insole, before the outer sole is sewn onto the welt from underneath. This essential final step gave this kind of design its name many years ago. As the shoes are worn, the cork sole forms an individualised cushion, which ensures exceptional comfort and an ideal fit. The welt seam makes it easy to replace the outer sole, so the shoes can last a lifetime.
